Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Plant Buyer to manage the procurement of green goods includes trees, shrubs, perennials, and specialty plants—for our Wholesale landscape Supply nursery. The ideal candidate will have good horticultural knowledge, supplier negotiation skills, and a keen eye for plant quality and seasonal availability. This role is critical to maintaining our reputation for offering healthy, diverse, and good-quality plant material to our professional landscaping clients. Responsibilities Source and purchase nursery stock and green goods from reputable growers and suppliers. Forecast seasonal demand in collaboration with senior buyers, sales, and production teams. Maintain & Manage vendor relationships. Monitor inventory levels and ensure proper product mix and turnover. Maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers and actively seek new sources. Coordinate incoming plant deliveries and freight, inspecting for quality, health, and accuracy. Work closely with the sales team to identify/ locate high-demand or special order plant items. Ensure all plant material meets company standards for health and presentation quality. Track and manage purchase orders, invoices, and vendor performance. Assist in pricing strategies. Qualifications Proven experience in nursery management, horticulture, or plant procurement (3+ years preferred). Degree, certification, or equivalent in horticulture, plant science, or prior work experience in a related field is a plus, but not required. Good understanding of plant species Good negotiation and vendor relationship skills. Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and prioritize seasonal needs. Comfortable using inventory and purchasing software (e.g., Excel, nursery management systems). Preferred Attributues Passion for plants and the green industry.
