In this energetic role, you will assist veterinarians in providing comprehensive care to food-producing animals such as cattle, sheep, goats, and swine. Your expertise will support diagnostic procedures, animal handling, and treatment protocols to ensure optimal animal well-being and farm productivity. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to apply your veterinary skills in an outdoor, hands-on environment dedicated to improving food animal health. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures involving food animals Perform organizational tasks at office/warehouse to maintain a clean and efficient workplace Handle animals safely using appropriate restraint techniques and dog handling skills to ensure safety for both animals and staff Collect laboratory samples such as blood, urine, feces, or tissue for diagnostic testing while maintaining aseptic technique Conduct animal catheterization and administer medications or treatments as directed by veterinarians Maintain detailed records of animal treatments, laboratory results, and procedural notes in compliance with veterinary standards Support veterinary critical care efforts by monitoring vital signs and assisting with emergency procedures Apply knowledge of animal anatomy and physiology to support accurate diagnosis and effective treatment plans Assist with farm medical drop offs and pick ups Experience Previous kennel experience or hands-on animal care experience in a veterinary or farm setting is highly desirable Familiarity with veterinary terminology, laboratory procedures, and diagnostic techniques including X-ray use Experience working with large animals such as cattle or horses is preferred; equine experience is a plus Knowledge of dental terminology relevant to veterinary dentistry for animals is advantageous Demonstrated ability in animal handling, restraint, and pet care across various species including dogs and livestock Veterinary technician experience with skills in animal catheterization, aseptic techniques, and critical care support is valued Strong understanding of animal husbandry practices, pet grooming, dog training, and pet grooming techniques is beneficial This paid position offers an exciting chance to develop your veterinary technician expertise while making a meaningful impact on food animal health.
