Position Summary A Hawker is responsible for preparing, handling, and selling food or beverages in a fast-paced, high-volume environment such as markets, festivals, food stands, or outdoor venues. This role requires strong customer service skills, efficiency, and strict adherence to food safety standards. Key Responsibilities Prepare and serve food and beverages according to established recipes and standards Set up, operate, and break down food stalls, carts, or booths Engage with customers in a friendly, energetic manner to drive sales Handle cash, POS systems, and mobile payments accurately Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workstation at all times Monitor inventory levels and communicate restocking needs Follow all local health, safety, and sanitation regulations Upsell menu items and promote specials or featured products Work efficiently under high-volume conditions, especially during peak service times Qualifications Previous food service, street food, or concession experience preferred Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices Strong communication and customer service skills Ability to work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions Comfortable standing for long periods and lifting up to 25-50 lbs Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays Key Skills Speed and efficiency under pressure Cash handling and basic math skills Teamwork and reliability Attention to cleanliness and detail Salesmanship and customer engagement Work Environment Outdoor venues, festivals, markets, or concert settings Fast-paced, high-energy atmosphere Exposure to heat, cold, and crowded environments Physical Requirements Prolonged standing and walking Lifting, carrying, and handling food equipment Ability to work in tight or mobile workspaces
