Job Description

Job Overview The Farm Stress Supporter (FSS) will provide information, support, resources, and practical assistance to farmers, agricultural workers, and their families. This role focuses on promoting mental well-being, reducing isolation, and connecting individuals with appropriate services. The FSS has an understanding of and/or experience in the agriculture industry and will be trained to provide outreach, support, and education. The FSS will work to reduce stigma associated with behavioral health issues and ensure access to services as requested. This position is under the direct supervision of the Executive Director. Responsibilities Build trusting relationships within the farming communities Coordinate events related to behavioral health for individuals, families, and the business partners that service and support the agricultural community in Tuscarawas and Carroll Counties Participate in ongoing evidence-based suicide prevention and other appropriate behavioral health/agriculture (BH Ag) trainings that would increase skills set and knowledge related to position duties. Provide outreach and education to the agricultural communities to raise awareness of behavioral health concerns as well as available resources. Provide one-on-one support to farmers and agricultural workers through in-person visits, phone calls, or virtual communication Facilitate partnerships with businesses in the Ag community to educate their workforce on farm stress and attend farm visits with the staff as an introduction to FSS Facilitate a connection to a treatment provider as needed and ensure there is a warm handoff for the farmer or farm family Complete all required documentation and tracking of activities and outcomes Skills Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to listen actively and communicate compassionately. Knowledge of mental health challenges specific to farming and rural communities. Ability to build trust quickly and foster supportive relationships. Excellent organizational skills for coordinating outreach activities and maintaining records. Flexibility to adapt approaches based on individual needs and community contexts. Experience in mental health support, community outreach, or related fields is preferred but not mandatory. A proactive attitude with enthusiasm for making a positive difference in farmers' lives. Education and Additional Requirements A high school diploma with a minimum of five years' experience in the agricultural industry is required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, agriculture, or related field preferred. The FSS must have the ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism. A valid driver's license, insurance and reliable vehicle are also required.
Pay:
From $23.50 per hour
