THE POSITION
The Department of Corrections is seeking an energetic Corrections Food Service Instructor at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Forest who is ready to lead, teach, and make a difference. In this position, you will train inmate workers in food preparation, service, and sanitation. Your work will help keep meal operations running smoothly and safely. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position leads inmate workers in daily food service tasks and ensures that meals are prepared safely, properly, and on schedule. As a Corrections Food Service Instructor, you will perform the following duties:
Food Preparation Training:
Teach inmates how to prepare, cook, and serve meals according to recipes
Sanitation Instruction:
Instruct proper cleaning, equipment use, and safe food handling practices
Area And Equipment Checks:
Inspect work areas, tools, and food items to ensure sanitation and safety standards are met
Inventory And Storage:
Receive, store, and rotate food and supplies using first-in first-out procedures
Work Assignment Planning:
Plan, assign, and review inmate work tasks and maintain performance records Interested in learning more? Additional details regarding this position can be found in the position description.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment, 40 hours per week Available work hours: 4:30 AM to 12:30 PM (1st shift) or 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM (2nd shift), with rotating days off. Work schedule and hours to be determined. This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
Telework:
You will not have the option to telework in this position.
Salary:
Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $47,925.00 (before taxes). REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Two years of experience in food preparation, production, or service of a variety of complete meal menus in an institutional food service operation, food catering service, restaurant, or in a similar large-scale food production operation; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
