Job Description

Ammonia Refrigeration Technician Sioux Falls, SD | Full-Time | On-Site A food manufacturing facility in Sioux Falls, SD is seeking an experienced industrial maintenance technician with a background in ammonia refrigeration and boiler systems. This is a full-time hourly position working a rotating 12-hour shift schedule in a production environment that follows food safety and good manufacturing practice standards. The role is well suited to a hands-on technician who works effectively both independently and as part of a maintenance team. Schedule Rotating 2-2-3 schedule, 12-hour shifts including nights. Full shift rotation required. Compensation $24.00 to $34.00 per hour What You'll Do You will perform routine and corrective maintenance on ammonia refrigeration systems, boiler systems, and associated plant utilities, working alongside other maintenance personnel on your shift. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting scheduled equipment inspections and audits, identifying and resolving equipment issues through hands-on troubleshooting, and participating in planned repair work as part of a maintenance team. You will respond to unplanned and emergency work requests in a timely manner, coordinating with operations to minimize production impact and maintaining clear, professional communication across departments. Following food safety protocols and good manufacturing practices is a consistent requirement of the role. You will also be expected to apply and promote safe work practices throughout all maintenance activities. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED One or more years of experience in industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing maintenance, or 4 or more years of direct hands-on experience in lieu of formal education requirements Demonstrated knowledge in three or more of the following areas: ammonia refrigeration, engine and boiler systems, electrical systems and motor controls, controls and instrumentation, PLC hardware and software, pneumatics and hydraulics, mechanical systems, predictive and preventive maintenance, pipefitting and welding, machining, metal fabrication, site utilities, or system analysis and troubleshooting RETA certification, or ability to obtain RETA certification after hire Basic computer proficiency Ability to work a rotating 12-hour night shift schedule including the 2-2-3 rotation Preferred Qualifications Active RETA Certified Industrial Refrigeration Operator (CIRO) or higher certification Prior experience in a food manufacturing or food processing maintenance environment Experience with maintenance planning systems or CMMS software Demonstrated experience in predictive maintenance techniques such as vibration analysis or thermography Familiarity with ammonia refrigeration safety standards including OSHA PSM and EPA RMP requirements Compensation and Benefits $24.00 to $34.00 per hour, commensurate with experience Medical, dental, and vision coverage 401(k) Paid time off To apply, submit your resume along with a brief summary of your ammonia refrigeration and industrial maintenance experience.
