Job Description The Horticulture Technician will ensure that our clients' gardens and green spaces are always healthy and beautiful according to their preferences. Duties and Responsibilities Identify and strategically prune ornamental plants which include annuals, perennials, trees, and shrubs Create new garden spaces by installing and maintaining seasonal plants Monitor, identify, annotate, and correct any pest problems that could pose a danger to plant health Perform general maintenance such as mowing, edging, weeding, pruning, and mulching Keep gardens and green spaces clear of unsightly detritus Maintain hardscapes Skills & Abilities Ability to work independently and on a diverse team Capable of following written and verbal instructions Ability to use simple hand tools and gas-powered equipment effectively and safely Required Qualifications A high school degree or GED Basic exposure to horticulture and/or a willingness to learn more about horticulture Must be able to lift fifty pounds independently Must be able to remain on your feet for long periods of time Must be able to work out-of-doors in seasonal extremes Preferred Qualifications Formal education in horticulture Familiarity with pruning techniques Valid driver's license Garden Keepers Overview Garden Keepers is a premier, full-service landscaping company that has been serving the Richmond area since 2010.
