Sr Grinding & Finishing Technician

Job Summary We are urgently seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Grinding & Finishing Technician to join our manufacturing team. In this key role, you will perform precision grinding, finishing, and fabrication work to ensure our products meet the highest quality standards. Your expertise in machining, tooling, and quality control will help drive efficiency and production excellence. As a senior team member, you will also serve as a technical expert and role model, working closely with the Welding Lead and other departments to coordinate production, improve workflow, and support a high-performing team environment. Responsibilities Safely handle, position and process metal parts to perform various high-precision grinding & finishing functions, such as removal of sharp edges, clean-up of weld burns, re-graining of material, and adding high polish/mirror finish as required, by use of hand, power, and pneumatic tools, to complete the work orders assigned to them Review technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders with the lead and understand material requirements, delivery sequences, assigned location, and any required protection of critical parts as well as proactively identify and share best practices to reduce scrap rates and improve throughput Protect finishing of parts, sub-assemblies or units after grinding and polishing by using film, foam, corrugate or other materials in addition to exercising general caution or care Work with other Grinding & Polishing Technicians, Leads, or Supervisors to make sure equipment and orders are completed in a timely manner and take lead on tasks when working with Assistant Grinding & Polishing Technicians actively training and mentoring them in advanced techniques, including complex re-graining and high polish finishes Keep Grinding & Polishing areas clean, tidy and organized. Continuously informs his Lead of completed activities, and any problems encountered Adheres strictly to all company safety protocols and health regulations, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and follow the 5S program to maintain a safe and organized work environment. Maintain accurate production records, including part counts, scrap rates, and completed job forms. Support operations and other departments, as required, to meet company's overall objectives Requirements Proven experience working in a manufacturing or factory setting with hands-on machining, grinding, or finishing operations. Skilled in the use of hand tools, precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers), and basic math for quality checks. Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on quality control; ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Requires high school diploma or GED equivalent or work experience in a manufacturing environment. Requires 5+ years of metal finishing experience using hand, power & pneumatic tools in a manufacturing facility. Forklift operation certificate desirable Basic to Intermediate Computer and math skills, with Basic proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings and Basic knowledge of different metal types and their properties. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions effectively. Ability to lift 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time, perform repetitive movements A highly self-motivated, dependable, and flexible team player with good communication skills and strong work ethic, positive attitude, that can work effectively as a team member with close attention to detail.

Pay:

$21.00 - $24.86 per hour
