Immediate Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented person to join our team. This position involves the construction, assembly, and finishing of high-performance boats and aerospace parts using composite materials such as fiberglass, carbon fiber, and epoxy resins. The ideal candidate will be willing to work with their hands, have strong attention to detail, and be able to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, quality-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Laminate composite parts and structural components using hand lay-up, vacuum bagging, or resin infusion techniques. Cut, trim, and fit composite materials to molds and finished parts. Maintain clean and safe working areas, ensuring proper use of PPE and compliance with health and safety regulations. Mix and apply adhesives, resins, and other chemicals according to manufacturer specifications. Sand, fair, and prepare surfaces for painting or gelcoat application.
Qualifications:
Required:
Previous experience in professional production of composite structures, parts or boats. Must be competent using hand, power, battery and pneumatic tools such as but not limited to drilling tools, cutting tools, routing tools, grinding, sanding and abrading tools. Must be competent using basic composites workshop and wood shop machinery including bandsaws, table saws, drop/chop saws, drill press, bench mounted disc and belt sanders. Proficiency with reading blueprints, measuring and marking out using the metric system. Strong attention to detail and workmanship. Physical stamina to work in confined spaces and lift heavy materials. Team player with strong communication skills. Be able to wear a half or full face respirator if required for personal safety. Be able to wear disposable coveralls and shoe covers when required for cleanliness protocols. Must be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential)
Preferred:
Professional training in composites is preferred but not essential. Competency using hand, power, battery and pneumatic tools such as but not limited to drilling tools, cutting tools, routing tools, grinding, sanding and abrading tools. Competency using basic composites workshop and wood shop machinery including bandsaws, table saws, drop/chop saws, drill press, bench mounted disc and belt sanders. Experience with resin infusion and vacuum bagging systems. Marine industry or boatyard experience. 2 years' experience working in composites manufacturing industry
Working Conditions:
May involve standing, bending, and lifting for extended periods. Occasional exposure to dust, fumes, and varying temperatures. Occasional use of protective equipment, including respirators, gloves, and coveralls.
