Finishing Production Manager Position Summary The Paint / Coating Technician is responsible for preparing, mixing, matching, and maintaining finishing materials such as paints, stains, and coatings used in production. This role requires a highly organized individual with strong technical skills, excellent color‑matching abilities, and knowledge of chemical components used in coatings. The Technician ensures consistency, quality, and efficiency in all finishing processes while adhering to safety and compliance standards. Key Responsibilities Prepare, mix, and adjust paints, stains, dyes, and coatings according to company formulas, specifications, and production requirements. Perform accurate color matching using visual assessment and/or color‑matching tools. Maintain detailed records of formulas, batches, and adjustments for repeatability and quality control. Conduct quality checks on materials to ensure proper viscosity, color consistency, and application performance. Organize and maintain inventory of chemicals, pigments, solvents, and related supplies. Assist with testing new coatings, materials, and application methods as part of process improvement or R&D activities. Troubleshoot coating issues such as adhesion problems, color variations, or finishing defects. Ensure proper labeling, storage, and handling of all chemicals and hazardous materials in compliance with safety standards. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times. Collaborate with production teams, supervisors, and quality control personnel to meet daily schedules and product standards. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; technical/vocational training in finishing, coatings, or chemistry preferred. 1-3 years of experience in paint mixing, coatings, finishing, or related manufacturing environments. Strong understanding of paint, stain, and coating ingredients, including solvents, pigments, binders, and catalysts. Excellent color perception and ability to distinguish subtle variations in shade and tone. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple batches, formulas, and tasks simultaneously. Basic mechanical and technical aptitude, including ability to use mixing equipment, spray equipment, and testing tools. Ability to read and interpret formulas, SDS sheets, and technical instructions. Commitment to following safety procedures and maintaining proper documentation. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, lift, and move materials up to 30-35 lbs. max or a 5-gallon bucket of paint. Capacity to work in environments with exposure to chemicals, fumes, and noise (with appropriate PPE provided). Visual acuity adequate for color matching and material inspection. Preferred Skills Experience in wood finishing or cabinet manufacturing. Familiarity with digital color‑matching tools. Understanding production workflows and learning manufacturing principles. #
