Job Description:
Overview:
The position is responsible for operating surveying instruments and supports the Party Chief in conducting more advanced land surveying tasks.
Responsibilities:
Load, unload, inspect, and maintain survey equipment. Operate data collectors, Total Stations, Robotic Total Stations, levels, and GPS-RTK Receivers. Perform field work to ascertain precise measurements and locations of natural features and man-made structures. Conduct construction staking for streets, utilities, drains, and lot layouts. Compile detailed notes, sketches, and records of survey data, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Provide guidance and direction to Rodmen and less experienced crew members. Perform minor field calculations and spatial data analysis. Assist the Party Chief in addressing moderately complex issues and running the crew in their absence. Adhere to safety protocols and ensure the crew complies with project requirements.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED certification. 2+ years of experience in land surveying or a related role. Proficient in operating and obtaining land survey data using advanced surveying instruments. Ability to perform and analyze technical calculations independently. Working knowledge of land surveying procedures and relevant equipment. Ability to address basic field issues and escalate more complex problems appropriately. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Physical ability to lift and carry survey equipment up to 35 lbs. and work in various terrains and weather conditions. Dependable, team-oriented, and capable of occasional leadership within the field crew.
