Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Filer-Fitter assists in the maintenance and repair of all saws, knives and guides used in mill operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Comprehend and perform all duties in accordance with rules, regulations and JSAs
Follow safety protocols and report hazards to ensure a safe work environment
Train with Filer-Benchman to learn saw fitting techniques
Train to tip and grind all saws
Train to weld or replace tips and sharpen saws
Learn to operate all filing room equipment
Maintain grinding equipment and ensure proper settings of filing equipment
Pour babbitt for guides and cut to proper size
Maintain a production level work pace
Keep work area clean at all times
- cleanup during and after shift

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Skills:
Ability to use and read precision measurement devices
Self-motivated
Ability to follow detailed oral and written instructions Ability to read and understand printed materials Ability to adjust work schedule, perform shift work, work overtime as needed Ability to pass a hair follicle drug test, post-offer pre-employment physical, and background check.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED
Valid driver's license.
1+ year sawmill machine operator experience
