Full-time Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Rubber Tire Backhoe Operator to join our construction team. The primary responsibility of this position is to operate a rubber tire backhoe safely and efficiently for the installation and replacement of watermains. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of excavation techniques, trenching, backfilling operations, and compaction procedures, as well as adherence to safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1.

Equipment Operation:

• Operate a rubber tire backhoe for digging trenches, excavating, backfilling, and other earth-moving tasks related to watermain installation and replacement.
• Maneuver equipment in tight spaces and around existing utilities while minimizing disruption.
• Operate plate compactors and other compaction equipment to ensure proper soil stabilization and compaction.
• Perform precise backfilling operations to ensure structural stability and compliance with project specifications.

Watermain Installation and Replacement:

• Excavate trenches to the required depth and width for watermain installations. o Handle pipe placement, alignment, and bedding preparation to ensure proper installation.
• Work alongside pipefitters and laborers to complete watermain connections and replacements.

3.

General Site Duties:

• Assist in setting up and maintaining a safe work zone, including traffic control and signage.
• Support laborers in material handling and site preparation tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience operating a rubber tire backhoe in watermain installation and replacement projects.
• Experience using plate compactors and working with various soil conditions.
• Proficiency in backfilling operations and soil compaction techniques.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Physical ability to lift 50 lbs and work in varying weather conditions.
