Job Description

Blast Operator (2 nd Shift) A Blast Operator cleans and prepares steel for painting or coating, which involves tasks like removing mill scales and rust through abrasive sand blasting. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Experience with paint and blast preferred. Experience driving forklift, crane and skid steer a plus. Ability to follow strict safety protocols. Experience in related fields like construction or manufacturing beneficial. Physically able to perform job responsibilities. Position Expectations Be reliable and conscientious. Work in a safe manner. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is essential. Possess strong problem-solving skills to diagnose and troubleshoot issues, ensuring smooth operations and minimizing downtime. Be open to learning and adapting to new tools, and methodologies to stay current and continue delivering high-quality results. Be proactive in identifying opportunities for process improvement. Responsibilities Work with a small team of operators to load and unload structural steel members and clean the surface of the steel through use of abrasive blasting per production specifications. Set up, operate, and adjust sandblasting equipment to include a portable blast pot and/or blast booth. Load appropriate abrasive material in the hopper and screen material for proper reclamation. Operate forklift, crane and skid steer to handle, load and reclaim abrasive blast material. Inspect completed surfaces to ensure proper quality standards are met per specifications. Perform routine maintenance and clean equipment daily to prevent breakdowns. Adhere to strict safety guidelines and wear all proper PPE while operating blasting equipment.
