Job Summary:
Role Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Powder Coat Technician to join our production team. In this role, you will operate electrostatic painting equipment'including cone, disk, and nozzle sprayers'to apply high-quality finishes to metal workpieces. You will be responsible for the entire coating process, from equipment setup and material mixing to final inspection and routine maintenance. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Equipment Operation:
Set up and operate electrostatic powder coating systems, conveyor lines, and paint spraying equipment.
Process Control:
Monitor gauges, dials, and thermostats to maintain precise pressure, flow rates, and tank temperatures.
Application:
Apply powder coatings evenly to achieve specified finishes; hand-spray parts to cover hard-to-reach areas or apply rust preventatives.
Quality Assurance:
Inspect finished units for flaws such as runs, sags, or unpainted spots, readjusting valves and spray patterns to correct issues in real-time.
Material Preparation:
Mix coatings using a viscometer to ensure consistency based on atmospheric conditions; select and load powders according to company color schemes.
Maintenance:
Clean booths, conveyor hooks, spray heads, and hoses; troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and perform routine preventative maintenance.
Safety & Organization:
Adhere to all safety protocols, including the use of PPE and respirators, while maintaining a clean and LEAN work environment. Desired Attributes & Experience
Experience:
Proven background in industrial powder coating or electrostatic painting operations.
Technical Skills:
Strong mechanical aptitude for equipment setup and troubleshooting; basic math skills for calculating material requirements.
Equipment Proficiency:
Experience operating forklifts, cranes, and other material-handling equipment is a plus.
Mindset:
Familiarity with LEAN manufacturing principles and a sharp eye for quality control.
Physical Stamina:
Ability to work effectively in an industrial environment involving moving mechanical parts and heat. Working Environment
Conditions:
The role involves regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and extreme heat.
Safety:
Exposure to fumes or airborne particles occurs occasionally; use of a respirator is strictly required while working inside the powder coat booth.
Physical Requirements:
Must be comfortable standing for long periods and navigating a fast-paced production floor.
