Starting at $18.00/hr, based upon experience. JOB SUMMARY
The Fitter Helper supports Fitters in the layout, preparation, fitting, and fabrication of pipe and structural components. This position assists with material preparation, equipment setup, and general fabrication support duties while learning pipe fitting operations within a manufacturing environment. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Assist in measuring, marking, cutting, and positioning structural metal components. Help set up and prepare materials, tools, and equipment for fitting operations. Hold, align, and secure materials in place while fitters complete welding or bolting tasks. Use hand tools, power tools, grinders, and rigging equipment under supervision. Perform basic grinding, drilling, deburring, and material preparation duties as assigned. Assist in reading and interpreting simple blueprints, drawings, and work instructions. Support quality control efforts by checking materials and finished parts for compliance with specifications. Assist with moving heavy materials or components using hoists, cranes, or forklifts as directed. Maintain clean and organized work areas, tools, and equipment. Follow all company safety rules, PPE requirements, and health regulations. Communicate effectively with supervisors, fitters, and co-workers to support production needs. Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors or management. MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred. Previous manufacturing, construction, or industrial experience preferred but not required. Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations. Must be able to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and basic drawings or diagrams. Must be able to accurately read a tape measure. Must possess basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals. Must be able to communicate effectively with supervisors and co-workers. Must be willing to learn and follow directions from fitters and supervisors. Must be able to read, write, and effectively communicate in English. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment. Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn fitting and fabrication processes. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to safety, quality, and detail. Ability to recognize and solve routine problems in standardized situations. Ability to use company computer systems to review dispatch lists or production instructions. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history review. Successful completion of any required pre-employment screenings. WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT
The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and climb or balance. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision. Successful passing of vision test (20/30 with or without corrective lenses; if corrective lenses are required, they must be worn while performing essential job duties) required every 2 years. Employees in this position are frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and extreme heat. Employees may occasionally be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and high or precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Manufacturing environment; may be exposed to loud noises, changing temperatures, machinery with moving parts, and industrial materials.
