Instrument Operator I is an individual with little or no experience in Land Surveying. An Instrument Operator II is considered a Party Chief trainee and should acquire the basic skills and knowledge of a Party Chief. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Follow instructions and management's direction. Responsible for operating a variety of survey instruments and data collectors. Loading trucks with essential supplies and equipment. Taking accurate measurements. Driving stakes. Setting property corners. Assist with running level loops, traverses and collecting other field data. Acting as a flagman while working along active roadways. Reading and interpreting construction plans, deeds, plats, etc. Record neat and accurate field notes to company standards. Ability to run a field crew for basic survey tasks. Requirements Strong work ethic and a good attitude required; we will train the right person. A high school diploma or Equivalent (GED) is required. Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Ability to travel and remain out of town for 5 or 10 day rotations, with commensurate time off afterward. May be required to work weekends and holidays. May be required to work hours other than 8 to 5. Attend work regularly and observe approved work hours. Required to work under exposure to inclement weather conditions. Required to wear personal protective equipment provided by the employer and comply with all safety requirements. Employment is conditional upon successful background and drug screenings. Candidates must possess a neat appearance and be prepared for various weather conditions. Familiarity with survey instruments is a plus. Ability to stand, walk, use hands, tools, controls, reach with arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as well as lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
