Job Description

FIBERGLASS TECHNICIAN
Job duties include: Laminates layers of fiberglass on molds to form parts. Selects precut fiberglass mat and cloth according to part. Places layers of mat and cloth in mold and smooths out wrinkles. Trims excess material from mold. Mixes catalyst and resin and saturates mat and cloth with mixture, using brush. Works saturated mat and cloth into shape of mold with hands and roller, to remove air bubbles and smooth surfaces. Bonds reinforcements to structures, using resin-saturated fiberglass. Cuts harden fiberglass from mold with trimming knife. May inspect, clean, and assemble molds prior to start of work. May apply wax to surface of mold to facilitate assembly and removal of laminated parts. Check drawings for measurements.
