Household Hazardous Waste Collection Technician (On-Call / Travel Required) Job Summary CMT Services, Inc. is seeking reliable and safety-conscious individuals to support Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection events across multiple counties in Maryland. This position involves one-day assignments (day trips up to 75 miles) assisting with the safe collection, handling, and sorting of hazardous materials from the public. This is a field-based, on-call role ideal for individuals who are dependable, flexible, and comfortable working in outdoor environments. Key Responsibilities Assist with the collection and sorting of household hazardous waste materials Safely handle items such as paints, chemicals, batteries, and automotive fluids Direct and assist residents during drop-off events Follow proper labeling, segregation, and disposal procedures Load, unload, and transport materials within the site Maintain a clean and organized work area Work closely with team members to ensure efficient event operations Follow all safety protocols and environmental regulations at all times Work Schedule & Travel One-day assignments (event-based work) Travel to various job sites across Maryland counties (up to 75 miles) Early morning start times may be required Schedule may vary based on event calendar Requirements Must be extremely reliable and punctual Must have dependable personal transportation to travel to assigned job sites Valid driver's license preferred Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team Strong communication and customer service skills Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions Must be able to lift, carry, and move materials (up to 50 lbs) Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in environmental services, waste management, or labor work Familiarity with hazardous materials handling (not required - training provided) Work Environment Outdoor, fast-paced event setting Interaction with the public Exposure to various household waste materials (proper PPE provided) Why Work With CMT Services, Inc.?
