In this role, you will be responsible for safely executing asbestos removal and abatement projects in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of asbestos handling procedures, construction safety standards, and environmental restoration practices. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to health and safety initiatives while supporting building renovation and restoration efforts. The technician will work closely with project managers to ensure the effective and safe removal of hazardous materials, thereby protecting occupants, workers, and the environment. •Employer will provide housing plus a $25 daily stipend for meals for qualified candidates•
Responsibilities:
Perform asbestos abatement activities in accordance with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards and industry best practices. Prepare work sites by setting up containment barriers, decontamination units, and necessary safety signage. Remove asbestos-containing materials carefully, utilizing appropriate tools and techniques to prevent fiber release. Conduct air monitoring tests before, during, and after abatement to ensure safety thresholds are maintained. Properly package, label, and dispose of asbestos waste following hazardous waste regulations. Maintain detailed documentation of work procedures, inspections, and disposal records for compliance audits. Assist with related restoration tasks such as mold remediation or general construction cleanup when required. Follow all safety protocols diligently to minimize risks associated with hazardous material handling. Collaborate with project teams to plan abatement schedules and coordinate site access. Participate in ongoing training on OSHA regulations, asbestos abatement techniques, and environmental safety.
Experience:
Prior experience in asbestos abatement or related environmental remediation fields required--License preferred. Knowledge of OSHA regulations specific to hazardous materials handling. Background in construction or restoration work is advantageous. Familiarity with mold remediation processes is a plus. Certification in asbestos awareness or abatement (such as AHERA or EPA Lead-Based Paint certifications) is highly desirable. Strong commitment to safety protocols and environmental health standards. Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check. CTS offers a comprehensive benefit packet to eligible employees.
