Job Description

About the job As a Hazmat Technician , you'll be on the front lines of our safety conscious team. This role will be active in the field responsible for the performance of tasks associated with emergency and non-emergency hazardous waste clean-up, equipment and tank decontamination, handling of hazardous materials, confined space entry and site-remediation. MP Environmental Services operates in a 24/7, 365-day industry. Key Job Duties and Responsibilities Ensure Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and always acting in a safe manner Work in various temperatures indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions Engage in strenuous physical labor Work in atmospheres and locations with the potential for exposure to various chemical and physical agents, some of which may be hazardous, toxic, or corrosive Work in potentially elevated noise levels, confined spaces, including lifting in areas of low clearance Support scheduled and emergency jobsite setup including containments, barricading, trailer choking, and equipment staging hazardous waste cleanup, confined space entry, and industrial maintenance tasks. Operate light and heavy equipment, handles various hand tools and powered industrial tools, works with vibration-producing tools Perform other duties as assigned Follow all safety protocols, wear appropriate PPE, and complete all required training and documentation. Participate in safety meetings and maintain good communication with supervisors and team members. Follow all local, state (provincial) and federal compliance regulations and rules Safely operate vehicles in accordance with U.S. DOT, local, state (provincial) and federal requirements Work extended (> 8 hrs.) time periods occasionally working on weekends and holidays may be required Must be willing to travel up to 50% Education & Experience 2 years of previous relevant labor experience High School Diploma or GED Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in fast-paced, physically demanding environments Basic computer and smartphone app skills for timekeeping and communication Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Valid California Driver's License and a clean DMV required (Hazmat Endorsement preferred or ability to obtain). TWIC Card (preferred or ability to obtain) 40-Hour
HAZWOPER
(preferred or ability to obtain) First Aid/CPR Certification (preferred or ability to obtain) Forklift Certification and ability to operate manlifts, reach lifts, and skid steers (preferred or ability to obtain)
