Job Description

SUMMARY:
The Tool Maker (C) is responsible for performing duties related to mold insert change-outs, minor mold repairs, and preventive mold maintenance. This role ensures the optimal performance and longevity of molds used in production processes. To perform this job successfully, the selected individual(s) must be able to satisfactorily perform each of the essential duties and job responsibilities listed below. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ability to work from daily production schedules and communicate with the Scheduler, Shift leaders and Production Manager to ensure all tool insert changes are completed. Must be able to use judgment and offer recommendations and/or alternatives when necessary. Capable of operating all conventional tool room equipment, i.e. mills, lathes, grinders, saws, etc.; including some basic machine set up. Ability to read, interpret, and verify basic blueprint designs. Must be able to verify work performed via Operation Work Instructions, sample parts, and detailed drawings. Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mold issues and make the necessary repairs and/or adjustments. Must be able to use calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools. Must possess an intermediate understanding of technical math concepts (Algebra, Trigonometry, etc.). Ability to understand written and verbal instructions relating to complex tool room assignments. Adhere to all tool room and safety procedures, completing all required documentation and maintaining a safe working environment. Ability to work under the direction of senior tooling associates while requiring little or no supervision on repetitive tasks. Possess and demonstrate technical knowledge needed to interface efficiently with engineering and manufacturing personnel. Must have the ability to fabricate basic tooling and possess good planning abilities. All other duties as assigned.
AUTHORITIES
Signature is required for verification of mold set up. Has the authority and responsibility to hold tooling deemed unfit for production.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent. 2-4 years related experience in a tool room/manufacturing environment required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Strong mechanical background. Ability to read and interpret tool drawings and blueprints. Must possess an intermediate understanding of technical math concepts (Algebra, Trigonometry, etc.).

None required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not have any direct reports or supervisory responsibility.
FLSA CLASSIFICATION/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is an hourly position which is eligible for overtime. A minimum of forty (40) hours a week is required. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
This position does not have any travel requirements.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position is moderately active with the majority of the work done in the production area. Lifting up to 50-75 pounds may be required on a daily basis as well as walking, bending, twisting, kneeling and squatting. SAFETY Safety glasses, hearing protection and other PPE are required in production areas.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position operates in a typical manufacturing environment where the temperature is not maintained throughout the year. In addition, there may be exposure to equipment, noise and/or chemicals depending on the specific job to which assigned.
REASONING ABILITY
Sound judgment and decision-making skills necessary. Must be able to appropriately prioritize multiple tasks and maintain timeliness for completion.
Pay:
$18.00 - $25.00 per hour
