 25-26 JOB SUMMARY Provides Asbestos, Mold and Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) consulting services to the district. Serves as an in-house professional services consultant on HISD projects. Conducts project and material specific inspections, investigations, testing, sampling, specifications, project oversight, project completion inspections, review and clearance.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Conducts asbestos consulting services including inspections /sampling /removal specifications. Provides mold consulting services including inspections /sampling /remediation specifications. Performs indoor air quality consulting services including inspections /sampling, and provides corrective actions.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES CONTINUED
Records asbestos, mold IAQ job-related data in departmental database system and maintains database. Conducts lead consulting services including inspections /sampling /specifications. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

SKILL AND/OR REQUIRED LICENSING/CERTIFICATION
Microsoft Office, CAD Office equipment (e.g., computer, copier), Hand tools (e.g., hammer, shovel, screwdriver), Power tools (e.g., radial saw, reciprocating saw, drill, pheunomatic hammer), Vehicles (e.g., automobile, truck, tractor, forklift) Licensed Asbestos Consultant
LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
Work Leadership. Regularly provides project management or team leadership to a group of two or more employees, but does not have formal supervisory responsibility. Leading and directing typically involves monitoring work and providing guidance on escalated issues. Most of work time is spent performing many of same duties they are leading.
WORK COMPLEXITY/INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT
Work involves the application of moderately complex procedures and tasks that are quite varied. Independent judgment is often required to select and apply the most appropriate of available resources. Ongoing supervision is provided on an "as needed" basis.
BUDGET AUTHORITY
No budget development activity is required.
PROBLEM SOLVING
Decisions are made on both routine and non-routine matters with some latitude, but are still subject to approval. Job is occasionally expected to recommend new solutions to problems and improve existing methods or generate new ideas.
IMPACT OF DECISIONS
Follows rules and procedures. Decisions can have minimal or no impact to HISD. Errors can be readily detected, usually by the employee, and, if made, would result in minor expense for correction.
COMMUNICATION/INTERACTIONS
Basic communication - very little communication required such as receiving basic instructions. Interactions are mostly with customers, own supervisor and co-workers in own department.
CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIPS
Takes routine or required customer actions to meet customer needs. Responds promptly and accurately to customer complaints, inquiries and requests for information and coordinates appropriate follow-up. May handle escalated issues passed on from coworkers or subordinates.
WORKING/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Work involves frequent exposure to unpleasant elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, loud noise, chemicals, etc. Ability to carry and/or lift up to 15 to 44 pounds. Houston Independent School District is an equal opportunity employer.
