Job Title:
WMSS Sharps Technician In reference to needs, they will also be the same across the state for healthcare.
Required is:
Valid Tx driver's license Valid and consistent reliable mode of transportation-meaning they cannot use ride share, public transit or have a state ID. It must be a valid driver's license. Must be comfortable getting updated vaccines if they show no immunity or cannot show written proof from a healthcare provider that they received the vaccine Must be comfortable walking 10-12 miles daily COVID 1 and 2 CAN

Job Summary:
Supports Waste Management Sustainability Services onsite program, including manual labor associated with medical waste, nonhazardous pharmaceutical waste, sharps, and hazardous pharmaceutical waste collection, handling, packaging, transporting, and installing containers. This position is focused on hospital waste.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure waste types are properly segregated, regulatory shipment windows are met, proper container labeling is adhered to, good housekeeping is maintained, and accurate tracking logs are kept. Identify best practices that assist customers in reducing waste volumes, increasing operational efficiencies, identifying optimal equipment usage, and generating cost savings. Perform labor-intensive activities such as collecting waste throughout the facility. Provide support or direction to less experienced Technicians. Wear required personal protective equipment. Participate and cooperate in safety processes, including following written procedures, attending required training and scheduled meetings. Immediately report any unsafe conditions, incidents, injuries, or property damage to the supervisor. Follow Environmental and Quality Management System (ISO 14001/9001) policy, procedures, and operational controls related to job responsibilities. Maintain compliance with applicable environmental, safety, and transportation regulations (EPA, OSHA, and DOT). Display good customer service and de-escalation skills.
Qualifications:
Education:
Associate's Degree (accredited), or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and two (2) years of relevant work experience.
Experience:
None required (in addition to education requirement).
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements:
24-hour
HAZWOPER
preferred.
Other Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities Required:
Must be able to work independently with little direction and as a member of a team.
Work Environment:
Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc.) most of the workday. Required to exert physical effort in handling objects up to 30 pounds most of the workday. Required to exert physical effort in handling objects up to 50 pounds occasionally. Required to be exposed to physical occupational risks (such as cuts, burns, exposure to toxic chemicals, etc.) most of the workday. Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes, or similar elements most of the workday. Ability to perform tasks in inclement weather.
Working Hours:
Monday through Friday, 40 hours a week.
Requirements:
Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license. Prior experience working with hazardous material, specifically sharps containers/medical waste. Comfortable with a medical environment and undergoing vaccinations required by the client.
Resume & Interview Process:
Applicants need to be added to the job order with a resume. The resource manager will review resumes once the applicant is shortlisted by the talent consultant. If the manager is interested in interviewing, she will contact the talent consultant, who will coordinate with the vendor.
Onboarding Requirements:
Cisive background check and drug screen & vaccinations to be completed prior to starting. If an offer is extended, the vendor will initiate and wait for the background and drug screen to pass before instructing the applicant to get the vaccinations (Vaccination Requirements Are Attached to the Job Order).
PPE Requirements:
The site provides all necessary PPE, including gloves, masks, and safety glasses. WM will provide uniforms and safety shoes.
