Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated Hazmat Technician to join our team on a part-time, on-call basis at our Newport News location. The ideal candidate will be responsible for handling hazardous materials and performing restoration tasks with precision and safety. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where safety, efficiency, and attention to detail are paramount. Duties Respond promptly to emergency calls involving hazardous materials and environmental hazards. Perform cleaning and decontamination procedures using appropriate techniques and equipment. Assist with fire restoration, water damage restoration, and mold remediation projects. Utilize hand tools and power tools safely and effectively during remediation tasks. Conduct asbestos abatement and other specialized hazardous material removal processes following strict safety protocols. Support restoration efforts within the industry by applying best practices for environmental safety and containment. Maintain detailed documentation of work performed, materials used, and safety compliance throughout each project. Skills Experience in cleaning, fire restoration, water damage restoration, and mold remediation. Knowledge of the restoration industry standards and procedures. Ability to operate hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently. Familiarity with construction practices related to environmental cleanup and remediation projects. Experience with asbestos abatement procedures is a plus. Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills for documentation purposes. Ability to work independently in high-pressure situations while adhering to safety regulations.
