What You Will Do:
Performs heat treat operations such as hardening, tempering, annealing, stress relief, shrinking operations on ferrous and non-ferrous parts and tools, and maraging of metals.
Specific Responsibilities:
Reads route sheet to determine sequence of operations, furnace conditions required, and necessary equipment. Sets furnace atmosphere, temperature and recording instruments by adjusting gas mixture or electrical controls for correct furnace condition. Spaces parts properly and loads furnace. Determines when furnace has reached prescribed heat, fixture parts, load parts, removes parts and allows parts to cool in air. Operates sandblaster to clean parts for hardness test. Degreases parts when necessary. Observes charts and gages to assure maintenance of temperature and atmosphere and makes necessary adjustments. Performs in-process inspection as a certified operator. Records order identifying information and time of starting heat treat process on chart and process route sheet. Performs computer transactions. Cleans machines. General housekeeping. What We Are Looking For Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent, preferably technical school background, and demonstration of basic educational competencies (reading, writing). Blueprint and routing reading and comprehension. Competent with hand tools and experienced with heat treat equipment. Basic computer skills such as log on, data entry and retrieval.
