Job Description

2nd shift position 5pm - 5am Job Overview Set up, operate, or tend heating equipment, such as heat-treating furnaces, flame-hardening machines, induction machines, soaking pits, or vacuum equipment to temper, harden, anneal, or heat-treat metal or plastic objects. Additionally, the supervisor is responsible for assisting management in monitoring and leading the department's employees. Tasks Monitor production of team throughout the day to ensure tasks get done in a timely manner. Assist management with distributing/assigning daily tasks. Issue employee write ups as needed to address attendance, production, or other issues - in collaboration with management. Report employee or departmental concerns to management team or HR. Read production schedules and work orders to determine processing sequences, furnace temperatures, and heat cycle requirements for objects to be heat-treated. Adjust controls to maintain temperatures and heating times, using thermal instruments and charts, dials and gauges of furnaces, and color of stock in furnaces to make setting determinations. Determine flame temperatures, current frequencies, heating cycles, and induction heating coils needed, based on degree of hardness required and properties of stock to be treated. Load parts into containers and place containers on conveyors to be inserted into furnaces, or insert parts into furnaces. Record times that parts are removed from furnaces to document that objects have attained specified temperatures for specified times. Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources. Using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes (not including computers or vehicles). Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things. Other duties as assigned Requirements High School diploma or GED Previous manufacturing experience required Previous manufacturing supervisory or team lead experience required Environment Duties are often performed in a high-heat environment. Outside temperatures can compound the already high heat environment which can result in heavy perspiration and need for frequent hydration. The manufacturing environment has higher levels of air particulate matter than outdoor or office settings. Proper PPE (such as safety glasses) should be always worn. All materials on the shop floor should always be considered either hot or sharp or both, proper PPE (such as gloves and sleeves) should be worn while handling materials. Equipment operation creates sustained, high decibel noise. Proper PPE (such as hearing protection) should always be worn. Duties often require long periods of standing and the ability to lift materials repetitively.
Pay:
$21.00 - $22.00 per hour
