Metrology Technician Maverick Tech Farmington Hills, MI Job Details Full-time $19.00 - $35.20 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Statistics Mechanical blueprint interpretation Customer communication Blueprint specification interpretation Statistical Process Control High school diploma or GED Geometry Data interpretation Collaboration with manufacturing teams Algebra Full Job Description Core Responsibilities Execute dimensional and metallurgical evaluations, including sectioning, mounting, polishing, and analyzing microstructure and microhardness. Perform Rockwell and superficial hardness assessments across various component types. Interpret technical specifications to establish appropriate measurement parameters and tolerance thresholds. Ensure the ongoing accuracy of hardness testers and measurement instrumentation through regular calibration. Manage the operation and sanitation of carbon analysis equipment. Utilize Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodologies to monitor product and process consistency. Examine components following furnace treatment and provide support for sample retrieval. Contribute to furnace validation procedures, specifically System Accuracy Tests (SAT) and Temperature Uniformity Surveys (TUS). Oversee furnace atmospheric conditions and dew point measurements. Evaluate chemical concentrations and balance within wash systems. Test quench tanks to identify potential water contamination. Gather process or oil samples as required. Quality Documentation Contribute to the preparation of PPAP documentation and process modification paperwork. Document inspection findings to generate concise quality reports. Organize and update quality records, logs, and inventory levels. Provide assistance during internal audits and fulfill customer quality inquiries. Maintain a tidy and structured environment within the Quality and Metrology department. Qualifications Education and Experience Possession of a GED or high school diploma. Background in heat treat, metrology, manufacturing quality, or metallurgy is highly desirable. We will evaluate candidates with equivalent professional experience or specialized training. Required Skills Proficiency in interpreting blueprints, technical documentation, and standard work instructions. Competency in fundamental math and measurement concepts, such as geometry, algebra, and tolerance application. Familiarity with foundational statistical principles, including SPC and variation analysis. Strong analytical capabilities and a meticulous approach to detail. Effective communication skills to collaborate with quality and production departments. Certifications A valid forklift or Hi-Lo certification is preferred, or a commitment to obtaining one.
