Job Description

We are looking for a New Heat Treat Operator 2nd shift
  • 11 am to 8 pm, Monday through Friday .
Must be willing to work around molten metals and extreme heat. Requires the ability to consistently lift 75 pounds. Starting wage is $20.05/hr + $2.00/hr shift premium (2nd/3rd shift only). The job requires protective gear such as safety goggles, safety shoes or uniforms. Spuncast provides all safety items at little to no cost per week. Day In The Life A Heat treat operator will operate the heat treat furnaces and quenching equipment to alter physical properties of castings to conform to customer requirements. This position requires a skilled fork lift driver with attention to detail. Each casting requires the operator to perform heat-treat operations in proper sequence on job card and as directed. Below is a list of your essential functions of the job. Verify that all castings have been released for treating on move tickets prior to executing heat-treating or quenching. Visually inspect castings for defects before and after heat-treating and quenching operations. Ensure proper documentation such as furnace logs, heat numbers, etc. and that the paperwork stays accurate and follows the casting to the appropriate department Perform maintenance on heat treat furnaces, quench equipment, media thermocouples and testing equipment to ensure that they are in good operating condition Conduct Brinnell or Rockwell tests, as needed Collect test samples from foundry and forwarding to QC lab with documentation Dispose of refractory material, observing all safety precautions. Transact production through Odyssey Work mostly independently and cross departmental when needed Maintain acceptable attendance Additional responsibilities below Work Schedule A typical foundry support worker can expect to work around 40-hour work weeks, with overtime. This includes weekends.

  • High School diploma or equivalent Experience
  • Factory experience preferred Knowledge
  • Ability to learn safe operation of heat-treat furnaces and quenching equipment.
Ability to obtain forklift certification. Mechanical aptitude. Solid math, problem solving organizational and communication skills.

Foundry Support Team Lead Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
This position requires an individual to: regularly stand, walk, bend, or stoop; frequently reach with hands or arms; lift and/or move up to 70 pounds; use overhead cranes, operate industrial trucks and other machinery. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Employee may be exposed to temperature extremes. Use of hardhat, safety glasses, steel toe shoes with metatarsal guards, and hearing protection is mandatory safety equipment for this position.
