Locksmith Technician

L.E. Whitford Company, Inc has several opportunities for experienced, professional locksmiths to join our team. Founded in 1948, L.E. Whitford Company is a family-owned locksmith company serving Connecticut and surrounding states. Qualifications We are looking for experienced, registered locksmith technicians with a MINIMUM of 1-2 years Locksmith experience. Base salary is commensurate with experience. Locksmith certifications or license preferred. Experienced candidates need to have thorough knowledge of master key systems, install, repair, rebuild, and open mechanical and electronic locks, locking systems, door closers, exit hardware and locking devices. Safe work and access control experience is a plus. All candidates need exceptional mechanical skills and have the willingness to pursue and accept additional training. Must be able to follow direction, work efficiently and take ownership for assigned tasks. Must possess valid CT driver's license. Frequent stooping, bending, kneeling and/or squatting. Job responsibilities Provides locksmithing services that includes lock installation, repair, replacement, and maintains the integrity of all keying devices and locking systems associated with the trade. Prepares estimates of time, labor, and materials and enters this information into the computer database. Completes required reports and/or documentation related to work. Secures materials, supplies and equipment necessary to complete work. Operates and maintains hand and power tools and equipment of the locksmith trade. Professional communication skills include accurate capture of customer data over the phone and in person, taking detailed messages and ensuring professional transfers. Uses positive, proactive language to maintain and improve customer and team rapport. Maintains company vehicles, tools and equipment in proper manner. Maintains clean work area, job site and uniform. Observes safety standards and practices. Ability to work independently to manage projects from assignment to completion. Ability to lift up to 50lbs. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Education High School Diploma, GED or equivalent. Some college a plus. Locksmith Technician Requirements Must have a valid U.S. Driver's License and a MINIMUM of 1-2 years of physical/mechanical security, access management or locksmith experience. Candidates with institutional or state locksmith license preferred. All candidates will be subject to pre-employment background screening. Job offer is contingent upon successful completion of background check. Must speak, read and write in English. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Job Specifics Monday-Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm. After hours, overtime and weekend work is infrequent, however may be required.
