Position Summary:
The Resident Locksmith & R&D Lead is a hands-on, strategic role responsible for bridging real-world locksmith experience with product development, innovation, and continuous improvement. Reporting directly to the President, this position ensures that products, tools, and solutions are grounded in practical application and reflect how they are truly used in the field. This role partners cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Sales, and Customer Support to test, validate, and enhance products while identifying opportunities for innovation. It also serves as a key connection to the locksmith community through training, feedback, and industry engagement. Provide real-world locksmith insight into product design, development, and improvement Test and validate products to ensure functionality, durability, and ease of use Partner with Engineering to translate field experience into technical requirements Identify product gaps, enhancements, and innovation opportunities Simulate real-world environments and troubleshooting product issues Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Sales, and Customer Support to align product performance with business goals Support product launches through usability validation and technical input Deliver training and demonstrations to internal teams and external partners Build relationships within the locksmith community and gather industry feedback Contribute to continuous improvement in product design and processes Qualifications & Skills Proven experience as a professional locksmith (commercial, residential, and/or institutional) Strong knowledge of locking systems, hardware, and tools Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving ability Experience supporting product development or testing preferred Ability to translate hands-on experience into actionable insights Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Basic computer skills: familiarity with technical documentation is a plusPersonal Attributes :

Work is performed across multiple environments, including office, engineering, and active manufacturing/production areas Regular hands-on use of locksmith tools, testing equipment, and mechanical/electronic hardware Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching throughout the workday Ability to lift and carry materials, tools, and components up to 50 pounds Exposure to typical manufacturing conditions, including noise, moving equipment, oils, and metal components; required use of appropriate PPE Close visual work required for inspection, assembly, and testing of small components and locking mechanisms Use of computers and technical systems for documentation, communication, and reporting Occasional travel to customer sites, industry events, training sessions, or field validation environments Flexibility to adjust schedule as needed to support testing, product launches, or operational priority Employer's Rights This job description does not list all duties of the job.
