: This position is open to all employees in the City of Dearborn Department of Public Works & Facilities.
CURRENTLY, THERE IS A VACANCY IN THE SANITATION DIVISION CLASS SUMMARY
This position is responsible for performing and/or leading the installation, operation, and maintenance of all equipment and systems of an assigned area. Responsibilities may include scheduling work; responding to inquiries; and maintaining systems as well as overseeing and guiding the team
TYPICAL CLASS ESSENTIAL DUTIES
(These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.) 1. Schedules staff to perform skilled operation, maintenance and repair. Acts as a lead worker to employees in lower classifications. 2. Responds to complaints and/or inquiries . 3. Installs, operates, and maintains all equipment and operating systems; operates and maintains service and distribution systems; operates and maintains all facilities. 4. Orders supplies and maintains inventory. 5. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance, including attendance at required meetings. This job description is intended to represent only the key areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the business needs of the department. Qualifications
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree and 3 years of related experience; or, all required certification(s) and 3 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS
  • Valid State of Michigan Commercial Driver's License Class A with endorsements as required by state law
  • S-3 Water Distribution Certification (S1 Preferred) (Water Dept Only)
  • Pesticide License 3A, 3B, 6, and Right of Way
  • Competent Person Certification Excavation Safety Trenching and Shoring
  • Work Zone Safety Certificate
  • Confined Space Certification
KNOWLEDGE
  • Applicable systems;
  • Safe work methods;
  • Performing repairs;
  • Methods of applying pesticides;
  • Computers and applicable systems;
  • Leading work of others.
  • Customer service principles;
  • Occupational hazards and safe work methods and practices.
SKILLS:
  • Maintaining applicable systems;
  • Operating vehicles;
  • Applying pesticides;
  • Performing repairs;
  • Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with the general public and others to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Positions in this class typically require: climbing, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
Medium Work:
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Incumbents may be subjected to extreme temperatures. Share job details to
