Job Description This position is responsible for standard installation, repair and maintenance of physical access control systems and hardware on DTMB-managed property and on some agency-owned and leased property. Required Education and Experience Education Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school. Experience Locksmith 7 No specific type or amount is required. Locksmith 8 Two years of experience assisting in the locksmith trade. Locksmith E9 Four years of experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of locks, including two years equivalent to a Locksmith 8. Locksmith 10 Five years of experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of locks, including one year equivalent to a Locksmith E9. Alternate Education and Experience Locksmith 8 - E9 Completion of a recognized program in vocational training for locksmithing may be substituted for two years of experience. Additional Requirements and Information Michigan State Police Candidates selected for this position must complete the Michigan State Police background check. This extensive background check requires fingerprinting for state and federal criminal background records. The background check search will include, but is not limited to, arrests, criminal charges, criminal convictions, and any information regarding contact with a criminal justice agency.
