Job Description

Job Title:
NJ Licensed Locksmith Qualifier / Technical Supervisor -
Part-Time Retainer Company:
OpSec Security Solutions Job Type:
Part-time / Retainer / As-needed field work
Pay:
$1,000-$1,500 per month retainer, plus additional hourly/project pay for approved field work
Job Description:
OpSec Securtiy Solutions is a low-voltage company that works heavily in commercial and healthcare environments, including skilled nursing facilities. We are looking to expand our licensed access-control and door hardware capabilities in New Jersey and are seeking an experienced NJ licensed locksmith to serve as our locksmith qualifier / technical supervisor. This is not a full-time locksmith service position, and we are not looking for someone to run daily locksmith calls. This is a good fit for a senior, semi-retired, self-employed, or experienced locksmith who wants steady monthly income without taking on a full-time workload. Our primary need is related to commercial door hardware and access-control support, including maglocks, electric strikes, door contacts, delayed egress, request-to-exit devices, and related troubleshooting. Most of our work is handled by our internal low-voltage team; we are looking for a qualified locksmith to provide proper oversight, review, guidance, and occasional hands-on support when needed.
Responsibilities:
Serve as the company's NJ locksmith qualifier / technical supervisor, assuming the proper supervision and compliance role required for locksmith-related work. Review relevant jobs, permits, scopes, drawings, or technical questions involving locks, maglocks, electric strikes, delayed egress, and access-control door hardware. Provide guidance to our internal team on proper installation, troubleshooting, and code-aware field practices. Be available for periodic phone/video consultation and occasional in-person review as needed. Perform or assist with select field work when a job is more complex or requires a higher level of locksmith experience. Help ensure that locksmith-related work is performed properly, professionally, and in compliance with applicable NJ requirements.
What This Is Not:
Not a full-time service technician role. Not a daily locksmith route. Not emergency lockout work. Not constant physical labor. Not a subcontractor arrangement where we are farming out all locksmith work.
Ideal Candidate:
Holds an active NJ locksmith license and is eligible to act as a business qualifier. Has strong experience with commercial doors, locks, electric strikes, maglocks, delayed egress, and access-control-related hardware. Understands how locksmithing overlaps with low-voltage/access-control work. Is comfortable reviewing work, advising technicians, and occasionally stepping in on harder jobs. Is reliable, responsive, and professional. May be self-employed, semi-retired, or currently working but open to a compliant part-time arrangement.
Compensation:
We are offering a monthly retainer, expected to be in the range of $1,000-$1,500 per month , depending on experience, licensing status, availability, and the final structure required for compliance. Hands-on field work, permit review, inspections, or complex technical work would be paid separately at an agreed-upon hourly or project rate.
Why This Role May Be Attractive:
This is a way for an experienced locksmith to earn consistent monthly income without committing to a full-time job. For the right person, this can be a long-term relationship with limited but meaningful involvement, mostly centered around technical oversight, code-aware review, and occasional higher-level door/access-control work.
To Apply:
Please send a short message with your NJ locksmith license status, years of experience, and your background with commercial doors, maglocks, electric strikes, and access-control hardware.
Pay:
$1,000.00 - $5,000.00 per month
Work Location:
In person
