Locksmith Technician

Overview Controlled Key Systems, Inc. is hiring a Locksmith / Door Hardware Technician to join our growing team. Based in Orange County since 1983 , we are a trusted provider of physical and electronic security solutions for commercial, industrial, and government clients across Southern California. We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Locksmith to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of various locking mechanisms and security systems, with the ability to provide exceptional service to our clients. As a Locksmith, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining locks and security systems. Your expertise will ensure the safety and security of our customers' properties. Responsibilities Perform professional locksmith tasks including rekeying, master keying, lock picking, and installation/service of cylindrical and mortise locks Service exit devices, door closers, safes, and related door hardware Work independently in the field and resolve service issues quickly and thoroughly Recommend repairs and upgrades with clear communication and follow-through Operate and maintain hand tools, measuring equipment, and power tools Keep a clean, professional work area and maintain excellent customer service Collaborate with other vendors as needed to complete installations or repairs Be available for on-call emergency work , including nights and weekends on a rotating basis Install, repair, and maintain a variety of locks and locking mechanisms. Assess security needs for our clients, providing recommendations for improvements. Use specialized tools and equipment, including an ohmmeter, to troubleshoot lock issues. Create new keys using key duplication techniques or key cutting machines. Provide excellent customer service by addressing client inquiries and concerns professionally. Maintain accurate records of services performed and inventory used. Experience 1+ year of locksmith and/or door hardware experience (preferred), or completion of an accredited locksmith school/training program. Proven experience as a Locksmith or in a similar role is preferred. Strong understanding of mechanical locksmithing practices Valid Driver's License with clean record (required) Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work on ladders Must be fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking) Proficient with basic computer applications (Microsoft Office, Windows, etc.) Industry or manufacturer certifications are a plus Must supply own hand tools; specialty tools, uniforms, and a service vehicle are provided Familiarity with various types of locks, keys, and security systems is essential. Proficient in using locksmithing tools, including an ohmmeter for electrical lock assessments. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with clients and understand their needs.
