DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE:

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Locksmith is responsible for the repairs and maintenance of all District facilities in relation to administering the District's lock program; performs all related work as required or assigned. All employees of SISD are expected to act with integrity, support organizational goals, communicate in a clear and respectful manner, championing the needs of our students and drive continuous improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
High School graduate or GED Valid Texas Driver's license Five years of progressively more responsible experience in the Locksmith industry Five job related experience Must have the ability to be licensed
Preferred:
Five+ years of progressively more responsible experience in the Locksmith industry Member of and certification by Associated Locksmiths of America (ALOA)
SPECIAL NOWLEDGE/SKILLS
Possess knowledge and skills of the equipment, methods, materials, practices, and tools used in the Locksmith trade. Knowledge of the common hazards and practice of the necessary safety precautions in the use of power tools and equipment consistent with the Locksmith trade. Ability to follow written and oral instructions, diagrams, and manufacturer's manuals. Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships Must be able to maintain/control a master key system Must have knowledge and be familiar with Access Control systems Must know how to use major computer operating systems (Word, Excel, Google) and work order systems.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Responsible for completing locksmith and related duties necessary to keep the District physical facilities in good repair and in use for their intended purpose. Prepares all assigned tasks to insure the effective, safe, and efficient completion of job assignment. Orders parts, materials after determining needs and requirements for assigned job. Installs, maintains, and repairs all locks, door hardware, and key distribution in a safe and secure manner. Cuts keys as needed after approval. Maintain inventory of repair parts and maintain appropriate records of key control. Responds to emergency call-outs, as required. (7 days a week/24 hours a day) May be required to work night and/or varying shifts. Keeps vehicle supplied with tools and materials. Follows all safety regulations related to any and all trade areas. Performs other general maintenance duties as assigned by supervisor, including but not limited to: Responding to and assisting with emergency or crisis situations.
Type of Equipment Used:
Ladders, scaffolding, safety eye goggles, small hand tools, various power tools and equipment necessary to perform required tasks. Audio/Visual Demands Must have: Average hearing Corrected 20/20 vision Good depth perception Ability to distinguish between colors
Work Environment:
Required to use chemicals Noise levels are normal Some outside work Work inside with and without air-conditioning, depending on the facility requirements Work alone as well as with team members
Personal Protective Equipment:
Rubber gloves and goggles are required when working with any chemicals. Back support belts should be worn when lifting. Required Training 1st day orientation - Hazardous Communications/MSDS/Fire Safety/Proper Lifting Techniques/Eye Safety. Within (90) days will attend a 2-hour Asbestos Training Awareness. Ongoing Staff Development.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The usual and customary methods of performing this job require the following: ability to work in a fast-paced, high-intensity work environment efficiently and effectively with frequent interruptions. Job may require prolonged periods of time sitting, reaching and repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer. Overtime is required as necessary.
