Summary:
We are looking for a skilled Field Machinist to operate a variety of machines at various sites and utilities. A great machinist needs to possess manual dexterity and an eye for detail. They must have knowledge of mathematics and mechanics as well as respect for safety precautions.
Responsibilities:
Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and work pieces on machines, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments. Read and interpret documentation (work instructions and blueprints) for the setup of various machines. Adhere to all site and company rules, regulations, PPE requirements, etc. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Experience working in an industrial setting with industrial, or nuclear experience considered an asset. A fundamental understanding of machining processes. Proficiency with various field machining equipment including split frames (clamshells), flange facers, boring bars, portable mills, etc. A minimum of two (2) years of documented work experience with field machining Two (2) years of work experience in a machine shop may be considered providing that applicant can demonstrate adaptation of shop machining principles to field machining. Three (3) years of verifiable work experience in the trade (Millwright or Pipe fitter) may also be considered. Have a strong mechanical aptitude and experience with precision measuring instruments. Ability to read drawings, reference manuals, and assembly instruction guides. Ability to work with minimal supervision as well as working as part of a team. Must have reliable transportation and be able to travel extensively and work variable hours. Able to pass background screens and drug/alcohol testing as required by our customers. TWIC card a plus. Physical Requirements Ability to work 10+ hours per day, up to 7 days/week Ability to work in both hot and cold conditions Ability to work in confined spaces if needed Ability to bend, kneel, climb, and work at heights Ability to lift/carry a minimum of 50 pounds and lift a minimum of 20 pounds overhead
