Job Description

Job Title:
Machine Operator Job Description The Machine Operator sets up and operates EDM and related manufacturing equipment to produce high-quality components in a cleanroom production environment. This role performs in-process inspections, documents process steps, and collaborates closely with engineers and supervisors to ensure product integrity, adherence to standard operating procedures, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes. Responsibilities Operate EDM machines and other manufacturing equipment to generate precise components according to specifications. Perform equipment set-up, including configuring machines, tools, and materials to meet job requirements. Conduct in-process inspections using microscopes and other tools to verify product quality and integrity. Work directly with engineers and supervisors to ensure that product quality standards are consistently met. Collaborate with engineers to develop and refine process documentation for manufacturing operations. Follow and adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures and production guidelines at all times. Use computer systems and Excel to document findings, record inspection results, and support machine set-up and adjustments. Communicate clearly with team members and leadership about production status, issues, and improvement opportunities. Maintain a clean and organized work area in alignment with cleanroom and safety requirements. Troubleshoot basic equipment issues and escalate more complex problems to appropriate technical staff. Essential Skills Minimum of 2-3 years of manufacturing experience, specifically in roles as a machine operator or technician. Hands-on experience operating manufacturing equipment, including EDM machines or similar precision machinery. Prior experience using a microscope for inspection and quality verification. Ability to use a computer and Excel to document findings and support machine set-up activities. Strong communication skills to work effectively with engineers, supervisors, and production team members. Ability to follow detailed Standard Operating Procedures and production instructions. Comfort working in a cleanroom or controlled manufacturing environment. Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to maintaining product quality. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience operating SMT machines or working as an SMT operator. Background in rework or repair of manufactured components. Familiarity with cleanroom protocols and practices. Ability to learn new equipment and processes in a dynamic, growth-focused environment. Work Environment This role is based in a manufacturing and cleanroom environment working with EDM machines, SMT equipment, microscopes, and computer systems. Shifts are available across multiple schedules, including first shift (approximately 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.), second shift (approximately 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.), and third shift (approximately 10:15 p.m. to 6:45 a.m.). The position involves standing at machines, performing detailed inspection work under a microscope, and using computers and Excel for documentation. The environment emphasizes adherence to safety and cleanliness standards, consistent use of appropriate cleanroom practices, and collaboration with engineers and supervisors in a production-focused setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carlsbad, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr.
