In this role, you will operate and program CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines, including lathes and milling machines, to produce precision components that meet strict quality standards. Your expertise in CNC programming, blueprint reading, and mechanical knowledge will be essential to ensure efficient production processes. Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC machines such as CNC lathes and milling machines, ensuring optimal performance and safety. Develop and modify CNC programs using CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software, ensuring accuracy and efficiency. Read and interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and specifications to produce precise parts. Perform routine maintenance on CNC equipment and troubleshoot issues promptly to minimize downtime. Use precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to verify part dimensions. Select appropriate tooling and fixtures, ensuring proper alignment and calibration for each job. Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to lean manufacturing principles for continuous improvement. Collaborate with engineering teams on prototype development, tooling design, and process improvements. Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other mechanical tools as needed for assembly or modifications. Follow safety protocols diligently when handling electrical discharge machining (EDM), plastics injection molding components, or operating forklifts. Experience Proven experience operating CNC machinery such as CNC milling machines or CNC lathes with Fanuc controls or similar systems. Strong background in CNC programming using CAM software; familiarity with SolidWorks or CAD is a plus. Knowledge of blueprint reading, GD&T standards, and mechanical principles relevant to manufacturing processes. Experience working with precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and CMMs. Basic math skills necessary for calculating dimensions, tolerances, feeds, speeds, and machining parameters. Familiarity with electrical discharge machining (EDM), plastics injection molding processes, welding techniques, and tooling setup. Ability to work safely with hand tools, power tools, forklifts, and other manufacturing equipment while maintaining high quality standards. Strong mechanical aptitude combined with a proactive attitude toward continuous learning in lean manufacturing environments.
