In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining manual machining equipment to produce precision metal components. Your expertise in blueprint reading, mechanical knowledge, and use of precision measuring instruments will ensure that all parts meet strict quality standards. Responsibilities Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine machining requirements. Operate manual lathes, milling machines, grinders, and other machining tools safely and efficiently. Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines to verify dimensions. Set up tooling, fixtures, and workpieces accurately according to specifications. Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on manual machining equipment to ensure optimal performance. Apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) principles to maintain tight tolerances during manufacturing processes. Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve machining processes using lean manufacturing principles. Maintain detailed documentation of work performed, inspections conducted, and adjustments made during operations. Skills Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in manufacturing environments or metal fabrication. Proficiency in blueprint reading and interpretation of technical drawings. Ability to operate precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines accurately. Knowledge of hand tools, power tools, tooling setup, welding techniques, and assembly procedures. Understanding of lean manufacturing practices to optimize workflow efficiency. Basic math skills for calculations related to measurements and tolerances.
