You'll select the right fixtures and cutters, home the machine, set work and tool offsets, and bring programs online at the control. A careful dry run leads to a first-article check, where your micrometers, calipers, and height gages confirm that features align with GD&T callouts. Through the run, you'll make smart adjustments to hold tolerances and keep the work area organized and safe. What you'll handle Configure and run CNC milling centers for production jobs Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions to plan setups Select, install, and secure tooling and fixtures; establish appropriate offsets Load programs and make edits at the control when needed Complete first-article inspection and perform in-process checks to validate quality Tune offsets and parameters to consistently maintain tight tolerances Uphold a clean, orderly, and safe work environment What you bring Hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC milling machines in a shop setting Strong ability to read complex drawings and translate them into efficient setups Working knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) Proficiency using inspection tools: micrometers, calipers, and height gages Self-directed approach; able to work effectively with minimal supervision Meticulous attention to detail and a passion for precision
