Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history. Northrop Grumman's Aeronautics Systems Sector is seeking a Milling Machine Machinist 4 for a program located in Palmdale, CA. The ideal candidate sets up and operates plain or universal, horizontal, or vertical milling machines to perform machining operations such as compound angles and contours; boring compound angular holes; doing helical and spiral milling; serrating; and gear, spline, and keyway cutting to exacting tolerances. Selects, mounts, and aligns various specialized machine attachments and standard or improvised tooling; plans sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup; determines, sets, and adjusts speeds, feeds, and depth of cut; interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications; uses a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments; makes standard shop computations; and measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. Requires completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience. Exclude general, all-around machinists and operators who do not perform own setups or determine sequence of operations.
  • This position is for second shift, Monday through Thursday, 3:00 PM to 1:30 AM.
Basic Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent and 6 years additional education and/or related experience. - High School Diploma or GED is required
  • 6 or more years of experience in the machining manufacturing industry
  • 3-4 axis machining programming using Master CAM
  • Experience running lathes, mills, grinders, drills and other machining equipment
  • Experience, setting-up and machining with CNC machinery
  • Experience reading and interpreting drawings (GD&T), Schematics.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 6 or more years of experience in the machining manufacturing industry.
  • Machine Tool Technology Certificate from educational institute or military.
  • Experience in the use of various measuring instruments to include micrometers, bore gauges, calipers, comparators, or
  • other instruments
  • Demonstrated ability to work with limited guidance.
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills. Experience using Microsoft Office applications, such as MS Excel,
  • outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
  • 3-4 axis machining programming using Master CAM
  • Previous experience running lathes, mills, grinders, drills and other machining equipment
  • Experience, setting-up and machining with CNC machinery
  • Experience reading and interpreting drawings (GD&T), Schematics.
Primary Level Salary Range:
$86,300.00 - $143,800.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
