2nd Shift — Monday-Friday, 2:30 PM-11:00 PM (overtime & weekends as needed) Position Summary The Machinist III (CNC Lathe Machinist) is responsible for setting up and operating special-purpose equipment, conventional machines (lathe and/or mill), and numerical-control (NC) lathes and machining centers to fabricate high-precision metallic and non-metallic components. This role requires strong machining fundamentals, blueprint reading ability, and adherence to quality and safety standards in a fast-paced industrial environment. Key Responsibilities Operate special-purpose equipment, conventional lathes/mills, and NC horizontal small lathes. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, manuals, specs, and sample parts to determine machining requirements, tolerances, and sequencing. Observe machine operations, identify malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions, and adjust machine controls accordingly. Select, align, and secure fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines including lathes, mills, jig borers, grinders, and shapers. Skills & Competencies Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T). Ability to apply basic algebra and geometry to machining tasks. Ability to calculate and set controls for machining factors: speed, feed, coolant flow, depth & angle of cut, etc. Ability to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control programs. Work Environment Fast-paced and noisy industrial environment with constant activity. Regular lifting and movement of materials up to 50 lbs. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required. 1-2+ years of manual and/or CNC machining experience preferred.
