Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic manufacturing team as a Mill Set Up Machinist, where your expertise will drive precision and efficiency in machining operations. In this vital role, you will be responsible for preparing, setting up, and operating CNC milling machines to produce high-quality components. Your skills in machine calibration, tooling, and blueprint interpretation will ensure that production runs smoothly, safely, and on schedule. Duties Read and interpret detailed blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications to ensure accurate machining processes. Set up CNC milling machines, including installing tooling, calibrating machines using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines. Program CNC machines using CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software and CNC programming languages like Fanuc to produce complex parts with tight tolerances. Perform machine alignment and calibration to ensure optimal performance; troubleshoot and adjust setups as needed. Operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other machining tools safely to assist with tooling changes or minor repairs. Conduct quality inspections throughout the machining process using precision measuring instruments; verify dimensions against blueprints and specifications. Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to lean manufacturing principles to optimize workflow efficiency. Requirements 10 Years Proven experience as a Machinist or Mill Set Up Machinist in a manufacturing environment; experience with CNC lathes and CNC milling machines preferred. Strong knowledge of CNC programming, CAD (Computer-Aided Design), SolidWorks, and CAM programming software and familiar with FANUC controls Ability to read complex blueprints and technical drawings accurately; understanding of GD&T is essential. Able to build out new programs and edit programs. Mechanical knowledge of tooling, fixtures, electrical discharge machining (EDM), plastics injection molding processes, and welding techniques. Capable of making fixtures, tooling, etc. Familiarity with precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM). Basic math skills for calculations related to machining dimensions and tolerances. Experience with Fanuc controls or similar CNC control systems; ability to troubleshoot machine issues efficiently. Physical ability to lift heavy materials using forklifts or hand tools; comfortable working with power tools and hand tools in a safety-conscious manner. Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles to promote continuous improvement in production processes.
