Job Description

Position Summary The Aerospace CNC Lathe & Mill Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC lathes and milling machines to manufacture precision aerospace components. This role requires the ability to read complex engineering drawings, work with tight tolerances, and ensure all parts meet aerospace quality standards and customer specifications. Key Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC lathes and milling machines to produce aerospace components. Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T, process sheets, and work instructions. Select and install appropriate tooling, fixtures, and machine parameters. Perform first-piece inspections and in-process quality checks using precision measuring instruments. Monitor machine performance and make necessary offsets and adjustments. Machine aerospace materials including aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, Inconel, and other specialty alloys. Maintain dimensional accuracy within tight tolerances, often ±0.0005 inches or better. Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshooting. Document production data, inspections, and quality records accurately. Follow aerospace quality standards, safety regulations, and company procedures. Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve manufacturing issues. Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce scrap. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED. 3+ years of CNC machining experience, preferably in aerospace manufacturing. Experience setting up and operating both CNC lathes and CNC mills. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T. Proficiency with precision measuring tools such as: Micrometers Calipers Bore gauges Height gauges Thread gauges Strong understanding of machining speeds, feeds, tooling, and cutting parameters. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Preferred Qualifications Aerospace manufacturing experience. Knowledge of AS9100 quality standards. Experience with multi-axis machining centers (4-axis and 5-axis). CNC programming experience using G-code and M-code.
Experience with controls such as:
Fanuc Haas Mazak Okuma Trade school certificate, apprenticeship, or associate degree in machining technology. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods. Frequently lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machine noise, coolant, and metal chips. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
