Shift:
Monday-Thursday, 1:00 PM - 11:30 PM (4/10 Schedule). "Overtime may be required based on production needs."
Compensation:
Hourly Position Summary:
Air Flow Research (AFR), a leader in high-performance cylinder head manufacturing, is seeking a skilled Machinist with experience or aptitude in machine operations. This role is crucial in ensuring precise CNC machining for our premium racing and street-performance cylinder heads.
Requirements:
Key Responsibilities:
Operate CNC machines to perform complex porting and machining operations on aluminum cylinder heads. Set up fixtures and tooling based on job specifications. Monitor and adjust machine parameters to ensure quality and consistency. Interpret engineering drawings and production documentation. Perform in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments. Maintain production logs and downtime records. Communicate with supervisors and quality control for flow and troubleshooting. Perform scheduled maintenance tasks (cleaning coolant tanks, clearing chips, checking fluids). Uphold safety standards and wear appropriate PPE.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED. Experience operating CNC equipment; prior EPOC or AFR experience preferred. Basic mechanical aptitude with hand tools (wrenches, Allen keys, air tools). Strong attention to detail and ability to spot irregularities in finish or function. Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment. Capable of lifting 30-50 lbs; frequent standing, walking, and bending.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with AFR-style cylinder head machining or performance automotive parts. Experience working with high-performance aluminum materials. Understanding of CNC G-code and control interfaces.
Work Environment:
Moderate noise and exposure to aluminum chips, coolant, fumes. Fast-paced, team-oriented shop focused on high precision and quality.
Performance Measurement:
Meeting daily rotation and production targets. Maintaining quality finish and dimensional accuracy. Following safety procedures and keeping work area clean. Effective communication with team members.
