Core responsibilities Set up and run manual lathes and VTLs to machine custom pump parts.
Produce to spec:
impellers, wear-rings, bearing housings, covers, and seals. Read and interpret blueprints/mechanical drawings to plan operations. Execute precision metal cutting, grinding, shaping, and fitting on horizontal and vertical boring mills and ID/OD grinders. Measure, document, and translate critical dimensions using inspection tools. Optimize setups and procedures for quality and throughput. Keep machines and tooling in optimal condition. Adhere to shop safety policies; contribute to a safe, orderly environment. Work cross-functionally with engineers and machinists to troubleshoot. What you need to succeed 5+ years post-training machining
LARGE PARTS
on manual machines in an industrial facility. Technical/vocational machining education; Journeyman status preferred. High school diploma or equivalent. Capabilities and aptitudes Applied shop math and geometry (angles, radii, bolt circles, and more). Understanding feed rates and effects of adjustments. Proficient with jigs, fixtures, arbors, mandrels, centers, and clamps. Proven ability to turn 3-10 ft pump shafts and hold 0.0005" or tighter using a steady rest. High attention to detail, fine manual dexterity, and precise coordination/control.
