This position is critical to final part quality and requires advanced experience with CNC grinders using Fanuc controls, manual machining, and precision inspection. The machinist works closely with spray technicians and quality personnel to ensure coated parts meet customer and engineering specifications. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC grinders utilizing Fanuc controls Perform at-machine program edits, offsets, and wheel compensation as required Operate manual grinders and lathes to support coating preparation and post-spray finishing Grind thermal spray-coated parts to final size, geometry, and surface finish Interpret and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, and job travelers Understand coating buildup allowances and final dimensional requirements Select appropriate grinding wheels, tooling, fixtures, and workholding Measure and inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, indicators, and surface finish equipment Perform in-process and final inspections to verify conformance to specifications Maintain dimensional accuracy and tight tolerances on coated and base materials Perform routine machine maintenance and keep equipment in safe operating condition Follow all quality, safety, and process control procedures Accurately document inspection results and communicate nonconformances or process issues Required Qualifications 5+ years experience as a CNC Machinist or Grinder in a manufacturing environment Strong experience with CNC grinding machines using Fanuc controls Hands-on experience with manual grinders and lathes Proven ability to grind coated and hardened materials to tight tolerances Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and GD&T Proficient with micrometers and precision measuring instruments Solid math skills, including shop math and basic trigonometry High attention to detail with a quality-focused mindset Preferred Qualifications Experience in a Thermal Metal Spray, coatings, or surface engineering environment Experience grinding carbide, ceramics, or sprayed coatings Familiarity with
ISO 9001 / AS9100
quality systems Ability to work independently and troubleshoot grinding processes Experience working with repair and reclaim parts Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods Ability to lift up to 50 lbs Manual dexterity and strong hand-eye coordination Ability to work around industrial equipment, noise, and dust (with PPE) Work Environment Thermal Metal Spray / precision manufacturing environment PPE required (safety glasses, hearing protection, as applicable)
Pay:
$30.00 - $40.00 per hour
