Job Description

Role Summary Our Barnes Aerospace CRO Site located in East Granby, Connecticut, is seeking a CNC Milling Machinist & Trainer for a 6+ month assignment. This position requires a skilled machinist who can balance hands-on production responsibilities with the training and onboarding of new machinists. The successful candidate will provide guidance, demonstrate best practices, and support skill development while continuing to meet individual production and quality expectations.
Shift:
1 st , 2 nd , or 3 rd Key Responsibilities Operate CNC/manual machining equipment while maintaining quality and efficiency standards Train, mentor, and support new machinists as needed, including demonstrating proper setup, operation, and safety procedures Balance production responsibilities with training duties to ensure both output and workforce development goals are met Perform complex set-ups, edits, and operate established and NPI jobs with minimal supervision ensuring parts conform to specifications and requirements. Make modifications or adjustments as necessary Verify dimensions using standard measuring instruments, such as micrometers, depth gage, height gage, and vernier Read and interpret blueprints and operations sheets Work with engineering department regarding material conditions, best positioning of part, tool pressure, etc. as required Detect faulty operations and materials and report these along with other problems to immediate supervisor Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required 3+ years of experience in machining in an aerospace or manufacturing environment. Prior experience training, mentoring, or supporting new machinists strongly preferred 3+ years of years of experience setting up and operating CNC Devlieg Milling Machines Demonstrated ability- or strong interest- in training, mentoring, or supporting other machinists Familiar with Fanuc controls; willing to cross train on various operations/equipment Strong mathematical skills and knowledge of GD&T Familiar with Statistical Process Control (SPC) Willing to learn basic CNC Programming This position is a safety sensitive position.
