JOB SUMMARY
The purpose of this position is to support the AVCRAD maintenance activities ensuring aircraft of the region are ready and available to support Federal and Ste missions. In addition, the AVCRAD performs Nional Maintenance Program (NMP) repair of rotary wing aircraft and components, limited depot airframe repair, aircraft painting, major airframe repair, depot-level component repair, and component repair and management, as directed by Army Meriel Command (AMC), and prioritized by the Nional Guard Bureau (NGB).NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.
This is an excepted position th requires membership in a compible military assignment in the Connecticut Army Nional Guard. The major duties include, but are not limited to: Performs a variety of machine operions to manufacture, modify, and repair aircraft parts, support equipment, tools, and assemblies. Fabrices local manufactured items required for aircraft components. Sets up and operes machine tools such as lhes, vertical and horizontal boring mills, bench, plain, or universal milling machines, shapers, planers, internal and external grinders, jig borers, jig grinders, and radial drills. Plans and lays out work. Conducts training for lower graded machinists, and traditional drilling service members assigned to the shop. Fabrices local manufactured items required for aircraft components.WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed inside in areas th are usually noisy and dirty, and where there is a constant danger to the skin and eyes from flying metal chips and abrasive particles; skin irrition from contact with coolants, lubricants, and abrasive compounds; danger to fingers, hands, and other parts of the body from cutting tools, grinding wheels, roting pieces, and moving parts of machines.PHYSICAL EFFORT
The work requires standing, stooping, bending, and reaching. Grade 8 operors frequently handle, lift, and carry objects weighing up to 18 kilograms (40 pounds). They are sometimes required to lift and move items weighing in excess of 23 kilograms (50 pounds) with the help of weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. Experience or training th has provided the candide with a basic knowledge of machining processes. Must have the ability to use drill presses, shapers, planers and other types of associed machine tools.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE

Experience or training in planning and lay out work from blueprints, worksheets and other drawings th may have missing or incorrect informion. Experience in applying shop mhemics in establishing needed dimensions, such as those required for chasing threads or machining angular surfaces; locing and marking surfaces and angles to be machined. Experience in programming machining operions, setting up and opering CNC machine tools. Experience demonstring knowledge of and ability to apply advanced shop mhemics such as geometric and trigonometric formulas to make compution for laying out work, machining pieces unusual or compound angles, determining gear rios pitch, angles and other similar exact or precision dimension.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of and skill in using any of the accepted trade methods and techniques, and any of the conventional types and/or computer numerical controlled (CNC) machine tools. Skill and ingenuity in using conventional machine tools and their tachments to perform machining processes requiring special adaption of the equipment or processes for which they were not specifically designed. Knowledge of advanced shop mhemics, with skill in using geometric and trigonometric formulas to compute compound angles, angular indexing, hole pterns, pitch lead, and pitch diameters for various standard and non-standard threads. Skill in setting up machines to machine unusual or compound angles. Knowledge of the effect and relionship of he-treing, annealing, pling, welding, and other reled work processes on various machining operions in completing an assignment. Knowledge of all aspects of the machining operion as well as extensive knowledge of reled trades in order to resolve problems concerning complex machining operions or procedures and to suggest more efficient or economic machining processes where necessary. Knowledge of a wide range of welding operions, shop operions, equipment capability, metals/alloys (aluminum, titanium, thorium magnesium and other metals), measurement tools, and instruments. Knowledge of reled trades in order to resolve problems concerning problems of complex machining operions is required.COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENT
